Planting the Plains: Weeding the Vegetable Garden

Almost anyone can grow vegetables with the right soil, water and time. Vegetable plants require well-drained soil that doesn’t stay wet and is rich in nutrient.

Check with your university county cooperative extension service to see what crops are best for your region. Try varieties that your family loves to eat such as kale, lettuce, radishes, and Swiss chard. Mix in flowers that discourage pests and attract pollinators.
