The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 is back again this May for its annual floral extravaganza and there is lots to see and do.
This year, the main shows and sanctuary gardens will showcase the future of horticulture through wonderful designs that embrace sustainability and celebrating joy.
We will also see the return of the All About Plants category, which will differently focus on all things flora, but with a creative twist. Think quirky fun designs packed with practical inspiration for any garden.
Not to forget balcony and container exhibitors that will showcase designers’ fresh take on small gardening ideas and how to utilise your limited outdoor space.
However, the newest addition to RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year is the No Adults Allowed Garden. For the first time in history, a garden designed by children will feature at Chelsea Flower Show this year.

When is the Chelsea Flower Show 2024?
The 2024 show is returning during its traditional springtime slot between the 21st of May to the 25th May this year. The first two days of the show (21st and 22nd) will be reserved for RHS members only.
What are the Chelsea Flower Show 2024 opening times?
Between Tuesday and Friday, the show opens from 8am and closes at 8pm. On the Friday, you can also attend the Chelsea Late event, which is between 5.30pm to 10pm.
On the last day of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (Saturday), it will also be open to visitors from 8am but will close early at 5.30pm.
Where is the Chelsea Flower Show 2024?
The Chelsea Flower Show takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. The nearest tube stop is Sloane Square, which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the show ground.

Tickets prices for members are from £37.85 and the cost for non-members start at £45.85.

What can I see at the Chelsea Garden Show 2024?
The Chelsea Garden Show 2024 gardens have now been announced.
According to Gemma Lake, the Show Manager:
“RHS Chelsea Flower Show will return this year with standout show gardens, show stopping displays from expert growers, nurseries, and florists and plenty of shopping opportunities from a range of boutique tradestands.
“Each year, visitors can expect to see a range of different garden design and planting ideas from top designers and nurseries. Trends this year include edible food forests, naturalistic planting, flood resilient design and drought tolerant planting schemes.
“In the Great Pavilion, old favourites such as Raymond Evison Clematis and Peter Beales Roses return alongside some new faces in Tissington Nursery, Strete Gate Camellias, and Special Plants by Derry Watkins.
“New RHS features include the RHS No Adults Allowed Garden, the show’s first garden designed by children for children, RHS Britain in Bloom 60th Anniversary: The Friendship Garden, celebrating the relationships that form through community gardening, and the RHS x UBS A Day on the Nursery, a new walkthrough exhibit showcasing the skill of nursery growers and plant propagation.”

Chelsea Flower Show 2024: Balcony Gardens
Proving you don’t need to have a large garden to grow beautiful plants and displays, this year’s balcony and container garden category are all designed by first time RHS Chelsea designers. Using pots of all shapes and sizes, the gardens will provide a modern take on horticultural which is more accessible to everyone.
The inspiration behind some of the designs this year include extreme weather, Mediterranean plants, sustainable gardening and more.
Chelsea Flower Show 2024: No Adults Allowed Garden
One of the highlights of the Chelsea Flower Show this year will be the wonderful No Adults Allowed Garden, which is made by children from Sulivan Primary School in London. The RHS invited pupils from the school to work alongside designer Harry Holding and together they created the brief and design for the garden.
As a result, the RHS garden is a joyful journey through an amazing landscape where children can explore the magic of lush woodland, bountiful meadows and a wetland with heightened colour and oversized bog plants.
The garden finishes at a natural den, set within a pool of water. Sliding down into the water, this sunken, children-only space is a sanctuary where they can play, learn, and explore the natural world around them.
Chelsea Flower Show 2024: Floristry and Floral Design Competition
The Floristry and Floral Design competition is where competitors create either window displays or larger instalments around specific themes.
Always taking place on the centre stage of the Great Pavillion, the Floristry and Floral Design competition is now a set feature of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Hubbards Florist’s ‘The Beauty of Recycling’, Helen James Flowers’ ‘On the Verge’ and Julie Pearson Floral Designer’s ‘A Botanical Spillage’ were the gold medallists for 2023.
Chelsea Flower Show 2024: Plant of the Year competition
Each year, experts choose one stand out plant of the year in the Plant of the Year competition.
Winners are selected by a panel of experts “to promote the continuing work of breeders and nurseries in producing improved and exciting new plants,” according to the RHS, who run the event.
Taking the crown last year was the Agapanthus BLACK JACK (‘Dwaghyb02’), which was bred by De Wet Breeders, exhibited by Sparsholt College and supplied by Thompson & Morgan. It features large, black-purple striped flower heads and has “ten times more florets per flower head, providing a long flowering period,” says the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
