About Popular Flower Types
Orchids symbolize thoughtfulness, beauty and charm. Choose phalaenopsis, dendrobium and cattleya varieties to add elegance to the garden or home.
Crocuses are classic heralds of spring, suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 8. Plant them in rock gardens or borders for a vibrant pop of color.
The Davis Flower Arrangers are highly honored to announce that Susi Gillum of the Bidwell Designers Guild in Chico will present her program on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Stonegate Country Club located at 919 Lake Blvd in Davis.
Gillum has a long history of floral design beginning 60 years ago working alongside her mother in her wedding business and her passion for creating floral art expanded exponentially after her marriage into another well-known designer family.
She became an accredited Judge in Horticulture and Floral Design 33 years ago and also holds a position on the board of the Organization of Floral Arts (OFAD). She has served in various offices for many National Garden Clubs in addition to serving as a previous president for the Chico Horticulture Society. She continues to inspire others with her joy in floral design and actively supports new designers to find their own unique joy in using what nature has provided.
Davis Flower Arrangers are fortunate to have such a wonderful presenter and we hope that you will join us for the second program of the season.
New members and visitors are always welcome to the programs where you will meet friendly floral minded folks. There are homemade treats to enjoy and floral books, magazines, cards, vases, and plants are often for sale. At the close of each program a number of the arrangements will be raffled which means you may get to take home one of the presenter’s amazing floral arrangements.
Visitor passes are available for $12.00, or become a member by sending a check to Davis Flower Arrangers, c/o Elizabetta Vivoda, 3010 Donato Lane, Davis, CA 95618.
Members can count on receiving a monthly newsletter with the description of each month’s program or workshop as well as other tips on current gardening events and opportunities throughout each month. In addition to the eight monthly meetings, there are garden and farm tours, plus a special end-of-the-season celebration in May.
There are great discoveries found in floral arranging and in gardening. For further questions, contact Stephanie DeGraff-Hunt at sdegraffhunt@gmail.com.
