Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon of Balanga City have launched the Kaanib-Hapag Garden program, aimed at promoting sustainable food production and green spaces within the city.
The program encourages residents to plant their own vegetables, contributing to both personal and community food security. This initiative also promotes environmental awareness and the beautification of neighborhoods.
The first Kaanib-Hapag Garden was recently established in 1Bataan Village, Barangay Tenejero. Local residents formed a dedicated “Kaanib” group to manage the garden, with harvests shared among members.
The project received further support from Board Member Noel Valdecanas, who donated a nipa hut for the garden’s use. Additionally, the Sangguniang Panlungsod members have voiced their backing for the Kaanib-Hapag Garden program.
