THE NORTHWEST FLOWER & Garden Festival opens on Valentine’s Day, so it’s only natural that this year’s theme is “I Love Spring.” More than 20 impressive display gardens, a packed schedule of daily seminars and a plant market filled with tempting treasures await gardeners yearning for spring.
Internationally renowned garden designer, author and speaker Jo Thompson designs beautiful gardens “with a soft touch.” Sponsored in part by the Northwest Horticultural Society, the designer is this year’s international judge for the festival. On Wednesday, Thompson presents “Gardens with Atmosphere,” a look at what goes into creating a romantic garden. The lecture is one of more than 115 learning experiences included with show admission.
Speaking of romance: Produced by Debra Prinzing, creator of the Slow Flowers Society, Blooms & Bubbles is back. Led by a floral professional, hands-on flower and plant design workshops take place every day at 2:30 p.m. on the main stage in the back of the North Hall. A workshop package (separate ticket required) includes show admission, all materials and a glass of bubbly. Space is limited.
