Marvin R. Thurber Jr. died Feb. 9 in Mexico of a cardiac event two days before the end of a beautiful four-week beach vacation. He was 69. The following was provided by his family.
Marv was born and raised in a small Nebraska town on a farm with four older sisters. This rural upbringing created a truly good man, kind, honest, caring and hardworking. In 1971 he graduated from Nelson High School, where he had been an athlete lettering in several sports. He first came to the valley that summer to work for Grand Teton National Park as a laborer at Colter Bay. He continued to work summers there for several years while attending college in Nebraska.
