THERE’S nothing more annoying than cats messing up your garden.
But there’s a quick and easy way you can stop it happening for good – and all you have to do is buy a £3.50 plant.
One person took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook to ask for help to make the local cats stop using her garden “as a litter tray”.
“I’ve tried some citronella-style granules they did nothing,” she added.
“They keep coming into my yard and I’m sick of cleaning up the poo!
“Any ideas on how to get them to stay out?”
People quickly took to the comments section to offer their suggestions, with many revealing curry plants had worked wonders for them.
“Curry plants!” one wrote.
“I had a problem with cats but since I have put a couple of curry plants around my garden, they no longer come in my garden.”
“Plant a curry plant, cats hate it,” another added.

“Cats don’t like curry plants,” a third commented.
The plants are also known as Helichrysum italicum and, as their name suggests, smell strongly of curry.
It has silvery-grey leaves and yellow flowers which bloom in July and August.
The plants release a “horrible odour” when rubbed against – which makes them one of the best deterrents for cats as it attacks their “sense of smell”.
“This spicy plant also has a coarse texture that cats will loathe,” Anna Sharples at Sloane & Sons explained.
But she warned: “Since the curry herb plant is technically a weed, you should use it sparingly in your garden.”
