The members of the Norristown Garden Club cordially invite the public to delight their minds at the NGC Standard Flower show set for September 16 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Valley Forge Road in Lansdale.
The theme for this year’s show is “Picnics and Tailgates”. The hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the show is free and open to the public.
The club was started 109 years ago with the mission to promote “interest in the culture of flowers by exchanging ideas, seeds, plants and bulbs.” Past Norristown Garden Club president, Jill Evans, asserts that the club members are dedicated to carrying on the tradition and mission of their founders and each flower show is an extensions those goals.
“The flower shows are held to develop interest and educate our members and the viewing public in horticulture and flower design,” Evans said. “To get them excited about growing and showing. They also provide an outlet for creative expression.”
The horticulture sections include annuals, perennials, bulbs, branches, container grown plants, herbs, and fruits and vegetables. The design sections include, All about Food and Go Have Fun with creative interpretations of Picnic by Lake Nockamixon, Moonlight Cocktails at the Concert, Cool-er Ideas, Mini Tailgates, First and Ten and Teddy Bear Picnic.
Karen Nemeth states that “Planning for a Norristown Garden Club Flower Show is always a team effort by the many talented members of our club. Lots of thought and preparation go into making this one day event memorable. With each show, we invite the public to share in the beauty from our gardens and also to enjoy the artistic skills used in the creation of the floral and craft design entries.”
This year’s chairs are Arlene Reagan-Harris and Ginger Hunsicker. The Norristown Garden Club hopes to see you on Saturday, 16th of September.
