When a local writer contemplated what her fourth book would be about, she wanted to craft something historical.
Marie Rickwood, author of Hornets in the Office and Behind the Smoke, put pen to paper and told the story of her homesteading parents in Determination – the Life of Eugene and Elizabeth who had lived in St. Lina, Alta., where the author was born.
According to a release for the book, Rickwood felt compelled not only to share their life with the descendants of Eugene and Elizabeth and leave a legacy, but for the book to be historically educational and detail how they virtually lived off the land while raising a large family without any running water or electricity.
Determination – the Life of Eugene and Elizabeth can be purchased online at amazon.com or indigo.ca or by e-mailing marierickwood@shaw.ca.
