Popular Flower Types
There are thousands of different types of flowers. Some are popular in the United States while others are more popular in other countries.
One of the most popular flowers is the rose. It is the symbol of love and romance around the world.

BED-STUY, NY — As the weather turns and the sun creeps out, it’s time to get your head in the gardening game.
“It’s planting season!” Flower Bed-Stuy organizers proclaimed.
From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Brooklyn locals can grab free flowers and gardening materials to brighten up their own neighborhoods. A short presentation at 10:30 a.m. at 625 Quincy Street will prep participants and send them off with supplies.
Some 50 local Block and Tenant Associations joined forces for the 13th annual Flower Bed-Stuy Celebration, organized by Bed Stuy Works and Bridge Street Development Corporation.
Local associations will bring supplies back to their neighborhoods for residents to spend a day outside planting.
“This day of neighborhood clean-up and beautification is a fun and exciting way to bring neighbors together to improve their outdoor spaces, plant flowers, and foster community pride,” organizers said.
The annual beautification day also spread into Crown Heights this year, thanks to sponsorship from ConEdison, New York City Community Trust, Council Member Chi Ossé and Assembly Member Stefani Sinerman.
The annual flower fest has only grown over the years, organizers said. And for some Brooklyn blocks, greenery is no joke.
Brooklyn’s Greenest Block competition is underway now, and participants have until June 1 to enter. Last year’s winner was in Crown Heights, but more than a dozen Bed Stuy locals participated.
A Bed Stuy block on MacDonough Street between Lewis & Stuyvesant Avenues took third place in last year’s competition, dotted with bright orange and yellow flowers.
