A garden is a planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the cultivation of flowers, herbs, vegetables, and other plants.
A time-tested method of lowering maintenance for fruit trees is companion planting. Companion vegetables help weed and pest control, and increase the number of nutrients in the soil.
I’m a gardening expert – and here’s why you should never throw away old Crocs
A gardening expert has revealed how an old pair of Crocs makes for perfect DIY plant pots.
TikToker Simon Akeroyd (@simonakeroydgardener), from Redhill, Surrey, encouraged green-thumbed enthusiasts to whip the old stompers out if you’re looking for some unique planters.
The influencer and author shared a clip demonstrating what to do on his channel, which has 596,900 followers.
In the clip, which has more than 107,200 views, Simon can be seen presenting well-worn pink shoes to the camera.
‘Do you own a pair of old crocs?’ the caption read.
‘They are durable and have lots of drainage holes, making them perfect for growing beautiful plants in.’
Simon instructed his viewers to sow a seed of their choice ‘or perhaps plant some succulents’.
To create a truly unique look, he then advised to hang the Crocs from shoe strings in your garden.
‘Literally gardening on a shoe string,’ he quipped. ‘Thank you for watching.’
Commenters rushed in to compliment the ‘perfect’ and ‘cute’ idea.
‘Now that’s what I call creativity.
‘Might try this when my kids grow out of their crocs,’ one shared.
Elsewhere a grateful gardening enthusiast wrote: ‘I just thought of this the other day but didn’t know how to do it. Thank you!!!’
‘Crocs are so great but a travesty for the planet that they can’t be recycled,’ another penned. ‘Good idea!’
‘This is adorable,’ one commenter praised. ‘Great upcyling.’
