Homesteading can be done anywhere – from large farm in the country to a suburban garden in a city. The key is to create a source of income that is resource based not debt based.
A strong community is also essential to a successful homestead. Spending a cozy winter night by the fire with a project like knitting or crochet is very gratifying.
Some of the basics of homesteading know-how will be shared at the Wilkes Cooperative Extension office in the Wilkes Agricultural Center in Wilkesboro from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7.
