John Smiles is the speaker at the next meeting of Glusburn & Cross Hills Gardening Society, at the community and arts centre, Colne Road, on Friday, January 19, 7.30pm.

Derek Blackwell, for the society, says: “John has 40 years’ experience steeped in gardening and farming, besides being active in the National Vegetable Society.

“Everyone is welcome to join us for his take on 12 months of colour and variety.

“We look forward to seeing everybody there.”

Admission is £3 for members, and £5 for non-members.
