Eleanor V. Klemm, of Monroe died on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the age 102. She was born on April 10, 1920 to Clara (Anderson) and Ray Severson. Eleanor attended Browntown and Monroe public schools, and was united in marriage to Wilbur Klemm on December 24, 1938. During the course of their marriage she was a homemaker and supported her husband’s cheese making career at the Mt. Hope, Jordan Prairie, and Decatur Cheese factories. Together they raised a family of six children. She was a founding member of the Jordan Prairie School’s Mothers Club and a member of the Decatur Young Ideas Homemakers Club for over fifty years. She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brodhead and served a term as president of the church women. Eleanor and Wilbur became members of Grace Lutheran Church when they retired to Monroe in 1972. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, quilting, and other crafts.
She is survived by her children, Karen Nelms of Milwaukee, Diane (Will) Risley of Memphis, TN, Richard (Harv) Klemm of McFarland, and David (Linda) Klemm of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Gloria Klemm of Brodhead. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlyn Campbell and Joyce Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur in 1999; son, Gary in 2004; and daughter, Kris Grossen in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Cleo Pilz; and brothers, Lorrell and Russell Severson.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 12:00 PM Noon at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
