Starting A Vegetable Garden
Choosing varities that perform well in your zone is one of the best ways to ensure success. You can also boost yields through companion planting.
Look for a sunny spot: most veggies need at least 6 to 8 hours of sun a day.
When the kindergarten students from Caledon East Public School cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the school’s new vegetable garden, the pint-sized pupils cheered.
“This is like magic for the kids,” said Rashmi Swarup, the Peel District School Board’s director of education, during a celebration event for the project at the school. “They will get to plant the seeds and watch them grow. I hope it plants a lifelong passion for growing food in the land.”
