BETHLEHEM, Pa. — See a wide range of flowers and plants on Friday and Saturday at the flower show located at First Presbyterian Church on Center St.
The free event kicks off Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. It’s being hosted by the Bethlehem Garden Club, a charter member of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania.
- The theme of the flower show is “Café la Fleur”
- The show will include competitions and plant sales
- The flowers and plants were mostly grown locally
The schedule includes competitions in areas such as horticulture, design and botanicals. Attendees will also be able to vote on the “People’s Choice” award.
Jayne Shinko, the incoming Bethlehem Garden Club president, said the show’s theme this year is Café la Fleur, roughly translated as flower café or coffeehouse. She said many of the items were locally grown by their members.
“They [plants] give us a little piece of heaven on an otherwise mundane day.”

“We are also having a big sale and a quite extensive plant sale of both cut flowers, perennials,” she said. “I saw some bushes. I believe there are annuals all at very reasonable prices.”
The flower show runs through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Shinko said gardeners and non-gardeners alike will enjoy attending the show.
“Plants and flowers are the things that are icing on our daily work,” she said. “They’re the things that make life enjoyable or pleasant. They give us a little piece of heaven on an otherwise mundane day.”
Educational exhibits include Miller’s House Garden, which is an 1870s Victorian-inspired design located across the grassy millrace from the Luckenbach Mill near Monocacy Creek. There’s also a lesson on flower design for various venues, including home entertainment.
