Most vegetables grow best in full sun. Tall vegetables like beans and corn should be placed toward the back of the vegetable bed so they don’t shade smaller plants.
Vegetables do well in a loamy soil that drains well. It’s important to test the soil before planting.
PARSONS, W.Va. (WV News) — The YLA Camp Horseshoe’s Youth Opportunity Camp is utilizing a salsa garden class in an effort to teach campers to be self-sustainable and address widespread food insecurity among Appalachian youth.
Youth Opportunity Camp, or YOC, is a program offered by Camp Horseshoe that mainly hosts Appalachian youth who are at or below the poverty line or in foster care.
