Angel (@perkyplantparent) recently showed off three veggies in her garden that grow with minimal care.

“Here are the easiest foods you should be growing,” she said while smiling in a shirt covered with plant illustrations.

The first plant that she pointed out is a crowd-favorite starch: the potato.

According to Angel, the tuber will continue to flourish underground while being essentially neglected by a distracted gardener.

Next up, the TikToker explained why tomatoes would be a great addition to any backyard project.

“As long as you keep these babies watered and fertilized, you’ll reap the rewards,” she said while smiling in front of a long row of potted plants.

And lastly, she advised beginner gardeners to grab a packet of lettuce seeds.

“It’s not fussy at all and it practically grows in the shade,” she said as she showed off her baby sprouts.

Followers sounded off in the comments to provide more context on their experiences with tomatoes and potatoes.

“I planted probably 50 seed potatoes last year in various conditions and we didn’t [get] a single one,” one person said.

The original poster responded saying this was quite strange and wondered what had happened.

Another person said that they tried to grow some potatoes in a large bucket, but they came out too tiny.

Angel clarified that they need to be fertilized and take around three months to fully grow.

“Make sure you are growing at the proper time. They really don’t like the heat too much,” she told the user.

One other user asked how often she should fertilize her tomatoes before Angel said she does it every two to three weeks.
