Growing A Vegetable Garden
There are many varities of vegetables that do well in Utah. Choose those that suit your taste, climate and space.
Vegetables need rich soil that is easy to work, drains well and has plenty of nutrients. A simple test: pick up a handful of soil and see how it feels.
Readers of this column and some friends I have out there are probably wondering how the vegetable garden is faring. Though it has been quite hot and dry lately, we have had a fairly good return on our investment of labor, bedding plants and seeds.
Truth be known, we did have a ripe tomato by the 4th of July, but the bulk of the tomatoes were a little late coming in. But that has passed and we have canned tomatoes twice and will give it another go in a day or two.
