As fall approaches and the leaves begin to change, homesteaders are busy preparing for winter. This includes preserving foods from the summer harvest, dehydrating produce for jerky, or using fermentation to make kraut.
Some chores are not as fun, like cleaning out the chicken coop or weeding the garden. However, doing them helps build strength and character for the future.
If you have a lot of dandelions trying to invade your garden it can be frustrating. Luckily Lauren Cannon with Ponca Nature Center will teach us how to make those weeds even more delicious than just eating them in a salad. Not only will we learn how to cook with dandelions, but Lauren will also teach us to make lip balm with them. Registration is required for this class; supplies will be provided. Please remember to cancel your registration if you are unable to attend so someone on the wait-list can attend. Thank you.
